The Shortest Day !!!

What happened to the Shortest Day?? it's even darker now and the days are a lot shorter it's supposed to be getting lighter ???

Now clearing a space in the Workshop for the big build hope I have enough room.

Oh Dear, I'm slow.

I seem to spend more time reading than writing.
Since my last post I've been making Coracles, that includes buying new tools, Tablesaw, Mitresaw, Portable Beltsander etc
But it's rather cold to be in the Workshop at the moment.

Onwards

So it's onwards I go, I can't say We, as there seems to be only me on this journey.
So I will just go through it as I see it.
Grammar, Punctuation and such like will have to be muddled through, but I do like my spelling to be correct.
This is a steep learning curve, as in vertical !! 
I will write what comes into my head, which at times can be very, very, strange.
But once I get into the stride of things it may become interesting, if only to me!!!
I will openly admit this writing thing is an escape route to somewhere, hopefully, it will become clearer as time goes on to where it will end up.

Onwards and Upwards

Time for a change?? maybe the world has changed and left me behind or maybe the World has become a place where material things rule over everything else ??
Do I want to join them??  integrity seems to have become a thing of the past with a lot of People or maybe I should say most of the people I know? The problem seeems to be my fear of letting my standards slip and leaving my World where I see kindness and honesty as very high in the scale of things.
There must be a like minded Person out there, but where.

Getting It Together

It's been a hectic few day's lot's of Car type stuff arriving plus a pair of new Sanuks.
It's like Christmas with all the packages arriving !!!!!!!!!!!
Now it's Oil change time etc. new old style points have been purchased with a  Fibre not a Plastic base and an old style rotor arm and condenser as we have a misfire which some People reckon could be the rotor arm.

Austin Enthusiast

Well it's been a while since  updated this so must try and put some content in it.

Lots have changed since I last posted, such as buying a Historic Car  as my only Transport a 1957 Austin A35.
 Being an old Car there can be problems, but no Tax and no Mot (in the UK anyway) can be a good thing as it leaves more money to spend on it, it's not as cheap to run as some People seem to think.
One problem is most times when you stop someone comes over to talk to you, so you have a add time to your journey so as not to be seen as ignorant.

Start again

I have started this blog again and deleted the old ones.
I must try and post at regular intervals work out how to make this blog as good as some I have read.
So where do you start how can you make it interesting for others to read or is it just about you, to be only read by you??
Is it for fun or something you how to become rich with.
All interesting stuff.
But to who, how many, for how long ??
Time to dip my toe back in the water.

Jack Kerouac

I'm trying to work out what it is about Jack Kerouac that is so special to some people.
Have I missed something, having read several of his books which I enjoyed
 I'm still trying to work out why he is held by some people in such high esteem???
Just watched a TV programme about him, which did not answer any questions for me.

Busy doing nothing..

Busy doing nothing, getting nowhere, but never stopping??
Well after a trip up North with an old friend life seems good.
Lots to do, it's just finding the time or should that be deciding what job to do next.
I've been meeting up with this old friend every year for the past 16 years.
Every Year we travel round together laughing and joking all the time.
I wonder if we met up more often the same would happen, would it wear off..
It's a good feeling when you seem to have someone on the same wavelength with the same crazy sense of humour..

Interests.

Interests?? Over time my interests change..
I've always wanted to build a Boat (I think a lot of People do??)
But epoxy resin and such things don't do good things for my health, so that idea is out of the window.
Next came the Qayaq, a Skin on frame way of building an Inuit watercraft, this I decided would be too limiting?? where would I use it? would it be stable enough to use on my own especially if I took it out to sea??
The answer I came up with was "No".
Then I started looking at Currachs, a traditional irish craft, Skin on frame built, fairly cheap, fairly easy, so now I spend a lot of time studying these craft.
Learning about these craft and their uses has become more of an obsession as I have always had an interest in History and Traditions.
Such as archery etc..

Highland Traditional Archery

I live in the Highlands of Scotland and although there are several Archery Clubs none are near to where I live, and none do Traditional Archery.
I shoot mostly with the English Longbow and I appear to be one of the few that use it for all forms of Archery, be it Target, Clout, or Field Archery.
This seems to be frowned on by some, who are under the impression the English Longbow should only be used in a gentlemanly way, rather than impersonating Robin Hood or a Medieval Longbowman..

Making Progress

Well, the Blog.stopped.
All my adventures are written in a Diary in Pencil.
What adventures you may ask, lots but nothing of interest methinks.
Brain in gear, away we go.

ooooh the Blog stopped

Well the Blog stopped maybe I had nothing to say??
But life goes on and I seem to have lots to do everyday.
The Archery stopped mainly because of some rather selfish People who thought more of their ego than their Archery, but atleast I wasn't the only one with the same idea as several gave up because of the same thing that made me give up.
But these days I don't seem to get time ??? or is my brain elsewwere.

Well it seems the Blog ground to a halt, not much to say  I suppose.
Life goes on, Archery,Cycling, planning another Adventure that will probably not happen.

Oh to be a wandering Hobo..

On second thoughts, how can you plan an adventure??

 When everyday turns into one without having a plan??

If only the weather would make it's mind up ??

One day it's Summer, the next it's Winter.

I left the Blog for a while, as other things came up which put it on the backburner.

I have decided to sell a couple of Longbows and several other Bows, and replace them with just one.

I feel it would be better to sell some first, rather than have a collection which are not going to be used.

How can an Itinerant Archer stay on the road, if they are loaded down with baggage :0) ??

I have also very much decided to go it alone rather than try and please others.
But if People want to tag along they're welcome.

But I do find they tend to take me off my intended Path
But that is more my fault than anyone elses..

I tend to travel better alone any way, that way any disappointments are my own and it is up to me how I deal with them.

Archery with other people has been very much a disappointment.
But the good thing about that (if you can call it good)  is that several others are of the same opinion.

Archery , Which one ??

Which do you prefer, the first or the second picture.

I've tried the first one, but the second one looks much more fun.

 So it's a change that needs making.

Maybe I won't go as far as a Yew Longbow which can be very expensive.

I'll stick with the Osage Longbow for the moment, but would like to try a Warbow.

If only someone did a try before you buy scheme ?? .

The question is what draw weight do I start with, too low and it will be a waste of money, too high and I could be struggling to draw the Bow for too long and get disheartened with the whole thing ??
